It's a list for blind parents, as the name clearly states. LOL. Someone told me about it when I was pregnant with my daughter, and I've found it to be a friendly, supportive group of parents so far. Some of the ideas I've gotten from these parents are things I wouldn't have thought of on my own, so I'm sure glad I found them. Just thought I'd put the info out there, for any parents and parents-to-be who might be interested in joining. The list owner is a blind mom who lives in the UK, and there are two other blind moms who are moderators.

Anyway, if you want to subscribe, the address to do so is:
blindparenting-subscribe@googlegroups.com
If, for some reason, this doesn't work for you, contact me privately with your e-mail address, and I'll pass it on to the list owner so she can add you manually.

Oh, and we don't discriminate against adoptive parents or stepparents, either. All blind and visually impaired parents are welcome.

Thanks. That's very helpful. I'm going to go sign up. By the by,since you seem to be in the know, do you know of any groups, google, yahoo or otherwise, or perhaps a list serve for parents of blind children, either blind or sighted parents, but with blind children? I know some very well meaning parents of blind children who are not doing the best job they could be, because of lack of information and I think it would be so helpful to them. All of the ones I'm thinking of are sighted, but I'm sure that parents of blind children who are blind them selves would really appreciate such a group to share ideas and maybe discuss the latest research. Thanks again and if you do hear of such a group, please post it.

If information on such isn't posted it's easy enough to start up such a group. If you personally don't want to do it; someone here might be willing. I myself would even be willing.

I joined the group but hadn't seen a message yet.

I'm computer literate, but not computer savvey. I don't know how I'd go about starting a google group, but I'd be interested if someone else wanted to start it, or tell me how to start one.

Hey Dawson, can you PM me the email address you used? We've had messages from the group today, so Google is up to it's weird quirkiness again.
